Insensible kids these days...

I have to say that during this time of recession, I would expect the kids to be more sensible and understand what is happening around them, their family and friends...

Unfortunately, I have to say the younger generation have it easy now, and never gone through a hard time like our parents or grandparents... I guess we are the fortunate ones. We lead a pretty comfortable life, thanks to our parents. Having said that, we shouldn't take things for granted and expect to live lavishly despite the recession, that is if anyone in your family is affected by it.

I guess I've seen my parents getting retrenched and went through recession. That time I was still pretty young (about 11 yrs old). I used to get whatever I want, i just need to ask and I will get it. But when my parents were hit by the recession, suddenly everything tightened and I could not get whatever I want. It was easy for me and I didn't quite understand then. But now I do. Thanks to that, I have learnt not to take things for granted and expect life to remain cruisy all the way.

I wish kids out there would sit down and think through this... if your family is hit by this in anyway, try to understand your parents. It will pass over time, just hang on. It will pass :)

Guess trying to grow my hair to mid-length is really testing my patience and I caved in to my temptations to get it cut! Oh well, at least it's not short to the extreme! :)

I'm so glad to went to get it cut today :) I've been to Le Salon so many times and today I finally saw Kim Robinson in the salon :)

Anyway, here's my new look! :)

I can't believe this couple can actually do this just to get more petrol! It really shows how some Singaporeans can go to such extremes in JB just to pump more petrol into their vehicle! Seriously, it shows the KIASU-ISM in Singaporeans! Sigh! Please don't embarrass us Singaporeans!!

Watch this and you'd probably will laugh! I'm pretty sure alot of you drivers out there do that in JB!!

Had a pretty bad day at work today.... Actually, it's been a bad week at work FULLSTOP! Somehow, today was really bad that I had to take a breather alone and took an hour's walk... When i got back to office after lunch, 2 people changed my mood!

They are none other but my 2 wonderful I.T. guys from work! ET and Lam, thank you guys for being such sweeties! E.T actually ordered a box of mini snowskin champagne truffle & ganache mooncakes from Raffles hotel for me!! He gave that box of mooncakes to me today. they are soooooo YUMMY!!

While I was there at their cubicles, Lam offered me cream puffs and chocolate eclairs! They are so nice and creamy!

I really appreciate this guys! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH! :)

Read a really funny article this morning. Can't believe that a country can ban women from buying cucumbers!! WHY?? Cos they look suggestive! So not only cucumbers that they can't buy, but ALL suggestive looking vegetables!!!

So what are the suggestive looking vegetables?? Besides cucumbers, there are also egg plant (brinjal), radish, carrots, bitter gourd (hmmm... all that ripples)!

I guess, it may be a good thing for the women then cos' since they can't get those type of vegetables, the men will have to go get the groceries!! So it isn't that bad afterall huh!?! Maybe other countries can start implementing this rule, and the women can sit back and relax while the men go get the suggestive looking vegetables!! HA HA!!

Wanna know which country banned women from getting these type of vegetables?? It's..... BAGHDAD!! Thanks to Al Qaeda!!

Ivor's Visit to Singapore - 22 July 2008

It's been awhile since I last saw my buddy, Ivor! The last time I saw him was about a couple of years back when I was back in Auckland. Can't believe how much I've missed his company.

Ivor was my best buddy when I first started work in the School of Engineering, University of Auckland in year 2000. I missed all the coffee breaks we had at the coffee stand in campus. He's been a great friend since then. I think he is the one person who could put up with my crap during my time there. He would rescue me from the weirdest people I see at work, and will just drag me out for coffee. What an excellent guy!

I was so happy when he told me he was going to swing by Singapore for a couple of days in July. And here he is... I took today (22 July 2008) off and spent a whole day doing touristy stuff with him. It was sooooo FUN!

We went to Funan Centre to look for some techy stuff, had lunch at a Thai restuarant. Then we headed off to Suntec City to book our Duck Tour, after that we went on to the Singapore Flyer. Since Ivor wanted to try some local food, I took him to Old Airport Road Hawker Centre for dinner. We had crocodile meat, stingray and fried oyster omelette, and Soursop juice. He really enjoyed it.

I have to say, I'm gonna miss him when he goes back to Auckland tomorrow. IVOR, you have to come visit me more often!!! heh heh!

Spring/Summer Collection 2008- Shoes

I really love the Spring/Summer Collection 2008 fashion. I shall just touch on shoes for now.

I am gobsmacked by the vibrant colours of this collection. Yellow, orange, pink, fuschia, blue, green and red... not forgetting silver and gold. I love all these colours!

I popped by Ninewest after work today, immediately I picked up 5 pairs of shoes to try... but only 3 pairs looked good on me. So in the end I bought 2 pairs and waiting for the 3rd pair to be transferred from another store cos' the pair they had was flawed :(

Not sure how far I'd go in getting this season's shoes... I can go overboard in buying shoes as I love SHOES! Especially if they are really unique, I will definitely get them if i can afford them.

Fashion is like bread and butter to many... especially to females. I've often wondered how much can we follow fashion. Fashion is something that it almost impossible to follow and kept current, unless you have plenty of time and loads of money.

I've stumbled onto quite a few sites with people talking about fashion. I'm fascinated by the way how people can actually follow it. I'm glad people are taking the effort to talk about it and posting pictures in their blogs.

That got me started on this posting...

One very interesting blog talks about colours... Basically, it's all about combining colours in an outfit. From this blog (WearPalettes), I've learnt so much about colour coordinating. There are times when I have problems matching my clothes and putting pieces together due to colours... but this blog has given me inspiration and at least now I know colours that I never knew could match can actually match. It's all about putting them together.

Disastrous Catwalks in fashion shows...

Has anyone ever wondered how models walk in those extremely high heels, platforms or weird looking shoes? I can imagine the pain to be excruciating... The runway looked so polished that one can probably just slide down the runway...

Most designer shoes do not have much grips on the heels... so you can imagine walking in it... may just end up falling, getting sprained ankle(s), back breaking, hurt your butt, hit your forehead if you fall forwards...

Strangely, I always think that models can walk in any shoes given to them for a fashion show... I mean some of the shoes do look ridiculous to me.. They don't even look like shoes for one, and some look like they are like an ornament just for display! Can you imagine how dangerous it is for the models to wear those high heels, ridiculous looking shoes and walking on slippery. polished runways??? Yep! It's extremely dangerous!

Now do you believe me? I really feel for the models... Some people may find it amusing and funny, but to me, I don't find it amusing at all... The last model is one of the worst I feel... to think she did a full monty! Sigh! Life of a model! No difference from a stripper... just that they are paid more!

When I started wearing heels... I never thought I will wear anything higher than 2inches... Anyways, as I got older, my heels got higher... Now I can wear 4.5 inches heels but honestly, if the shoes are not comfortable, it can be quite painful... To wear such high heels (anything higher than 3inches), you must really stand straight with a good posture... it's like a balance thing... When the posture is right, the pain is not so bad! EQUILIBRIUM perhaps! I don't know really... but from my own experience, when i wear high heels, I tend to stand really straight with a good posture, and somehow, the look is better and my feet does not feel that painful!

Yesterday I had to walk in 4.5inches heels for a 1 hour bridal show. Even tho' I walked only for 2min, I had to stand for 45min, my feet almost died. The standing part was the killer... Due to the structure & design of my gown, there is no way I can bend my back or move much. It's a long tight gown with a fish tail and no slit... So you can imagine the small steps i had to take and making sure I don't twist my ankle while walking...

My thoughts on high heeled shoes... if you are not ready, start with a low heel and gradually work your way up...

This song is from Li Sheng Jie's first album. Had this album for a few years now... and this song is one of my favourite from this album... It's kind of a bittersweet song because it's about the girl who fell in love with her boyfriend's good friend... and her boyfriend wishes them all the best and wants them to be happy... Isn't that sweet and sad at the same time?

Many would think you can force someone to love/like you but in actual fact, the more you force, the distance between the two of you will be further... May as well, let the person you love/like be with someone he/she likes/loves. In that way, both will suffer less :o) It's called freedom of love (or like)!

Listening to this song when you are alone can be quite depressing... I'm still stuck in the office at 7.30pm on a Saturday! Yeah most of you would probably ask me "What the hell are you doing in the office on a Saturday and at this bloody hour?". Well, I have tons of work to do and it's never-ending, non-stop work... so I can only use up all the free time I have to complete my work. Maybe I'm just inefficient hahaha! While listening to this song, working away, can be quite depressing!! Don't you agree Charlene?? hahaha!

Heard this song over the radio about a week ago... Didn't manage to get the artiste's name... All I could remember from the song was "t starts in my toes, makes me crinkle my nose"... Thought it was kinda cute song... It made me think about how when someone is in like/love with another, when they think of that person, they'll get this feeling... Don't you??!! heheh!
