This song is from Li Sheng Jie's first album. Had this album for a few years now... and this song is one of my favourite from this album... It's kind of a bittersweet song because it's about the girl who fell in love with her boyfriend's good friend... and her boyfriend wishes them all the best and wants them to be happy... Isn't that sweet and sad at the same time?

Many would think you can force someone to love/like you but in actual fact, the more you force, the distance between the two of you will be further... May as well, let the person you love/like be with someone he/she likes/loves. In that way, both will suffer less :o) It's called freedom of love (or like)!

Yeah most of you would probably ask me "What the hell are you doing in the office on a Saturday and at this bloody hour?". I fell in love with this song when I was 16 years old. Went to my first High School ball in 6th Form when I was in Auckland Girls' Grammar. At that time, I needed a partner desperately to go to my school ball. Didn't take me long to decide, it was this guy whom I met through my cousin... My cousin and I would play badminton with him 2-3 times a week. After one of the badminton session, as we were cooling down after the game... I walked over to him and asked him if he was free during that month, during a particular week... and he said "yeah I should be! Why? Have you got a school ball?" I was like "HUH? How did he know" in my head! Then I said "Yes! Would you like to go with me?" and he said, "YES!" Gosh! It was easier than I thought! Hahah!

I had 4 weeks to prepare before the ball... I wanted to give him something to thank him for being my partner... I decided to knit him a scarf. I was really rushing to finish it cos' I only managed to finish it on the day of the ball itself. It was a really long scarf cos' he is quite tall... It was black and cream in colour... I was so happy that I managed to finish it.

Anyways, when that nite came, he came to pick me up and I was surprised that he got me a bouquet of rose and a corsage! When we got into his car, I pass him his gift.... When he opened it, he was so shocked and smiled from cheek to cheek cos' I told him I knitted it. I was so glad he liked it.

Then off we went to the ball... It was kinda awkward at first cos' I did like him but not sure if he liked me the same way! (Typical teenage gal!! Tsk Tsk!!) As the nite went by, then this song came on "Lady in Red", he asked me to dance.... so we proceed to the dance floor... It was my first slow dance, and it was with someone I like... It was just GREAT & NICE!! After the ball, he sent me home, and as I was about to open the door to my aunt's house, he called me, and I turned around, and he shyly gave me a peck on my cheek... We both blushed!! heheh! So I'll never forget this song ...

About 1 week after that, we went with a few other friends to another ball - Singapore Ball which was organised by the Auckland Singapore Association. During that night, a few of the guys in the same group asked me to dance... by the end I was really tired cos' i didn't get to sit down properly. I can still remember him staring at me when his 2 other friends kept asking me to dance, and he did ask me to dance too. And when "Lady In Red" was played, he asked me to dance with him, and so i did... It was again nice... I think I must have fallen in love with him that night... cos' the feeling was amazing ahahha! Ok teenage gal again!!

Anyways, eventually, after a few weeks, we became an item that lasted for 5 years :o) Amazing huh?!

As for the other 2 guys... well... one of them actually confronted him and told him to backoff (crazy!!) and the other one, avoided me for awhile but eventually, he was ok and we still remained as good friends for a long time...

Gosh! I'm amazed I can still remember all that ahhahaha

Habitat for Humanity - Building Homes... Building Lives

31st September 2007, Friday was the day 22 GSK employees set off to Batam, indonesia to help build homes for the poor. It's an annual charity work that GSK does to help the Indonesians in Batam to build houses.

It was my first time doing such charity work that requires HARD LABOUR!! Initially, when registration was open to volunteer, I was abit hesitant but later on, I thought to myself, "Hey! It's to help the poor, so what is abit of hard work and heat!" So I decided to register for it with my Bio Team.

I have to say, I had to be mentally prepared for what it was going to be before heading out there. I knew that sanitation wasn't going to be great there, and I have to endure the heat (as I can't take heat very well at all). True enough, I had to hold my bladder the whole day till I got back to the ferry station in Singapore.... and the heat almost killed me as I almost fainted... my head was throbbing and my heart rate was racing up like crazy (beyond words) sometime in the afternoon. I had to stop, took my painkiller and slept for awhile on a mat.

This day really gave me an insight to how lucky we all are. I felt like a construction worker, having to work under the hot sun, eat from a lunch box on the ground, with flies buzzing around, ants crawling all over... All that didn't bother me at all! It was really an experience! However, if you ask me if I'd go through all that again, I am not too sure if i will. I guess it's also because of the fact that 2 of my workmate's bags were stolen while they were helping the locals build homes... I don't think that is a very nice thing... But sad to say, that's life!

So what did we do there? We dug 1.5m hole for sanitation, 3m hole for a well, carried bricks, carried soil and pile them onto the ground for the house flooring. I have to say, digging the hole was the worst of all. I did that for the longest time, and it was really tough. You can dig for hours, and yet only see like 200cm done... haha! But it was all worth it in the end, cos' we accomplished what we had to do.
